staying productive while plagued + more
(with the freshman flu)
Well, it happened. I got the mystery freshman illness that you're always fabled to get. I've been sick for over a week and it's starting to get more annoying and pathetic than pitiable at this point.
There's been a few days where I've been completely bedridden, but it did allow me to sit down and write 3 essays for my school that I probably would have procrastinated on otherwise. I did end up going to the studio to work on projects in the night mostly, as another fun little perk of my illness is that I get absolutely horrible sleep.
There's a piano in the foyer of my architecture building which has in all honesty been horrible for my work ethic. It's as if I always have a cookie sitting right beside me waiting to be eaten when I finish my work, and that cookie is in the shape of a beautiful honky-tonk oak piano. I've taken to piano breaks every hour or so just to reground myself while working, which is both keeping me sane and also keeping me from getting things actually done.
In my earlier posts about my piano playing, I was writing about wanting to get back into it and picking up Arabesque by Debussy. I can officially say its at almost a performable level! As in I'm ready to pick up another piece without feeling like I've abandoned my current ones. I'm thinking of either picking liebestraum no 3 by Liszt back up, or learning Liebesleid by Rachmaninoff. Maybe both?
I'm hoping I get healthy sooner rather than later as I have a Montreal weekend trip coming up soon, if I'm still sniffling by then I think I may just explode. Hope everyone's doing well!
