work hanging, latest happenings

Another afternoon spent chilling in the Materials Library, occasionally gathering the energy to do material research. Right now, I'm writing informative articles for the company staff on two different sustainable materials: Polygood, which is a solid surface material made entirely of post-consumer plastic (spools, cd cases, even fridges!), and Pyrolave, which is volcanic lava stone tiles that come in all kinds of different glazes and finishes. Pretty cool stuff, but you can't rush good writing!

I finally finished my first true perzine, con moto! Soon enough I'll start properly sharing my zines/art on here, or maybe I'll make another blog to keep them separate. I've started the rollout on trading them. So far, I've got some going around Canada, some to the US, and even two to the UK! I have a few more trades in the works, so I'm excited to see where else my little zine will land. I'm also excited to get some zines back!

Tonight after work, I'm going to spend the evening watching my friend game for some company while I fold the zines together in the corner of her room, to go to the zine library's free bin tomorrow. I have to absorb as much of her as I can before we go our separate ways for school again!

Now that my latest project is basically finished, I feel a wave of calm that's already curdling into restlessness again. This high-strung nature of mine is both a blessing and a curse. It gets me into the groove to create very easily, but the crashes are legendary, hence me blogging right now..

Very soon, I will fall into a cycle of packing and unpacking for the rest of the summer, until I'm unpacking my dorm again. I've got a few trips to look forward to until then, but the realization that soon I'll be stripped from my sweet familiar home and dropped back into the academic grind is terrifying and exhilarating all at once. It seems, with all things in life, just as soon as you get comfortable in one spot, change will always veer around the corner.
