writing about my current architecture project bc i'm too scared to start it

So currently in architecture I'm in this class called Drawing, which is basically the precursor to my first studio this winter semester. It's been really fun, as it deals with a lot of more abstract, conceptual sculpture and artwork (which I really enjoy), but it also has challenged me immensely as I'm always just slightly missing the mark for my professor in one way or another.

This week, we're creating a plan for a theoretical addition to our architecture building, specifically in the first-year studio. I believe (and my TA believes) that I have a really good idea for this week, and the only thing I have left to do is draw my addition on top of the studio plan that I've already drafted. Terrifying.

My building has an almost balcony-esque upper level, overlooking the main floor. The opening is closed in on either side by the two studios. The piano that I've mentioned in the pit there tends to echo up into the studio when I play, just barely being audible, even less so when the door is closed.

My addition would be to open the walls of the studios and introduce a bridge system that would span across the entire upper floor, allowing both for sound to travel up and around the building without being blocked by cement (the bridges would be made of a mesh or some kind of light material), and also promote unity between the different studios and years of the program. Right now, we're all corralled into different corners of the building, which doesn't exactly promote support and mentorship between years.

Design wise, it would be modelled after orchestral sheet music. In sheet music with multiple parts, each instrument or part gets their own staff. Modelled after the pipes we have lining the building (it's a very brutalist, exposed building), I would have a "staff" of pipe, or note lines, running through each section. One through the second year studio, one through the main section, acting as the bridge, and one through the first year studio. This emphasizes the unity between different years, all playing equally important parts in the school.

I'm finally at the verge of something really great in this course, and I keep finding new ways to put it off.. It's due tomorrow so as long as I get it done by noon monday it'll be fine. Ugh.
